THE VIRGINS

I first heard The Virgins booming over loud speakers while working. I thought it was catchy, but the sound seemed like it would come out of American apparel clad hipsters. The song really grabbed me so I decided to find out more about these guys, what they looked like, etc… Found a few things on youtube and NME. These new wave crooners looked like gutter punks with tattered jeans and old members only jackets. These images reminded me of my first time seeing the Ramones and the Strokes. A New York band that’s look and style embodied the culture of the City that never sleeps. They have a great juxtaposition as ugly models wearing designer jeans that look like they’ve been through a wood chipper. Brilliant! Their debut album is self-titled.
